Fiber Cut?

by AnthonyAnderberg＠nuvera.net

I'm looking at what appears to be a fiber cut on Zayo's route into the 511 building from the SW metro, affecting the Belle Plaine remote and several of us who come in from that direction are down or on alternate links. Based on my nodes affected the cut must be between 511 and Cologne, I don't know of any scheduled maintenance on that span. Looks like it happened a little after 10pm CDT. [Anthony_Anderberg]

Meeting Agenda Item

by Jeremy Lumby

With the upcoming MICE meeting I would like to put something on the agenda for discussion. It is a hot topic, however I would like to propose what I hope would be a small/easy tweak (famous last words). It seems like our port fees are a bit out of date. In general I think 1G and 100G are fine where they are, I would like to revisit pricing on multiple 10G ports. Originally the second port was made more expensive to push upgrades to 40/100G ports because of a lack of 10G ports. With so many people adopting 100G, I feel we have sufficient 10G capacity that the second 10G port should cost the same $250 as the original port. Possibly there should still be a higher price after the 3rd port since at that point they could move to a 40G QSFP port. ARIN Policy Implementation Scheduled for the Week of 30 March 2020

by David Farmer

If your organization uses detailed reassignments in the ARIN Whois database for customers, you should pay close attention to this announcement. ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: ARIN <info(a)arin.net> Date: Mon, Feb 10, 2020 at 14:25 Subject: [arin-announce] Policy Implementation Scheduled for the Week of 30 March 2020 To: <arin-announce(a)arin.net> Over the last several years, the community has been discussing ARIN policy regarding how reallocations and reassignments are made to downstream organizations. As a result of these discussions, two new policies will be implemented in the coming weeks. These new policies may impact you, your downstream customers, and your automated SWIP scripts or email templates for detailed reassignments and reallocations. The changes to our systems required by these policies will be deployed during our next release cycle, scheduled for the week of 30 March 2020, as previously announced. When the community-driven policy changes ARIN 2017-12 and ARIN 2018-5 are implemented, organizations will be unable to create Points of Contact (POCs) or Organization IDs (Org IDs) for organizations other than their own. A recipient organization must create an Org ID and POC with ARIN before receiving a reassignment or reallocation. We have been working actively with community members to determine the best way to implement these policies because they have operational impacts for our customers. To assist our customers, we have published a detailed blog post that explains how these policies will change detailed reassignments and reallocations. https://teamarin.net/2020/02/07/two-new-policy-implementations-coming-what-… We encourage all of our customers who reassign/reallocate IP address space to their customers to review this blog post carefully, and to take advantage of the upcoming opportunity to test their automated processes prior to the implementation date. Zayo's last update indicated that they knew it was by Sioux City. Our own staff confirmed that it happened in our ILEC territory: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Taggart's+Power+Sports/@42.5943322,-96.3056268,165m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x878de414ea82510d:0x3a391b9978326800!8m2!3d42.5945806!4d-96.3061472 High-voltage pole was replace.
