Ignore that Cat ticket. After some more prodding we are using Vast for a connection. It appears they are likely using Zayo fiber. Re: Zayo Fiber Cut

I am assuming we are tracking the same issue. Vast is responding to the cut according to our NOC. The Vast ticket number is 191229. Why Vast was responding or involved isn't entirely clear to me. We haven't gotten any updates either since around 5 PM. We have a circuit down in Tracy so would concur with Anthony's original statement. Our response was that the cut was somewhere between Windom and Minneapolis..... Because the Route servers were setup with the incorrect data. The IPv6 address should be your ASN. The :6: probably crept in from some previous member that has a 32-bit ASN, as those overflow the one field into the next. It would be best to get change to get all on the same page and be the standard setup. Can I go reconfig now? Or did you want to schedule it with me? The participants page on the website lists the zero in the address (2001:504:27:0:0:86f9::1) but i'm established with the route servers using the 6 address (2001:504:27:0:6:86f9::1). Zoom’s Web site is host on AWS, at least the last I checked. Also, since late March they have been bridging calls in AWS too, because of the load from COVID-19. They also bridge calls in their own data centers and started using Oracle Cloud in the last month or so. Has anyone had any bad experiences with zoom today in particular? I noticed my traceroute goes through mice and then amazon, but I can't duplicate it. The company that is experiencing it says even zoom's website will sit there and spin. So, I don't know why I wouldn't see similar behavior.

Re: Additional 100G Card for Arista

Sorry, I’ve had a retinal detachment a week ago and had emergency surgery to repair it and have been recovering since. I think I’ve put more eye drops in my eye in the last 4 or 5 days then I have in the last 25 years. I can’t see out of my right eye yet, as it is fully dilated and intentionally has a gas bubble it in. I have to position my head face down so the gas bubble helps hold the retina against the eye wall as it heals. The gas bubble will be absorbed in a week or so, by the end of this week. The day after the surgery when the doctor removed the dressing from my eye I could see light across most of my right eye. So the prognosis for restoring sight I’m my right eye is pretty good. The swelling is significantly reduced and the bruising is almost gone, but my eye is still very irritated. I see the eye doc again on Thursday. I’ll try to finish up the paperwork early next week. There was a mention of QCIX for the pizza-box switches, how is QCIX organized? Is it a nonprofit or coop? BGP RPKI Origin Validation Overview Webinar

by Justin Krejci

The highly respected Job Snijders just hosted a very easy to digest webinar (assuming basic level understanding and experience in deploying BGP) on the overview and practical concepts of RPKI based BGP origin validation. I think it is a great for people who want to get their feet wet with the technique. You can watch it here (about 1 hour) https://www.capacitymedia.com/community/webinars?commid=396013 Also, for those using Arista, they recently added support in EOS for this and here is one document they put together on the topic as well: https://eos.arista.com/bgp-origin-validation-rpki/

MICE - PeeringDB Prefix Counts

by Nathan Beard

All, FYI - I recently noticed log entries on my edge router in regards to the configured maximum prefix thresholds being crossed for the MICE route server eBGP sessions. It appears that the PeeringDB site for the MICE route servers needs to be updated since I'm seeing roughly 74k IPv4 prefixes and 34k IPv6 prefixes learned at the present time. The values currently referenced on that page are 50k/25k respectively, and I know that quite a few people probably use that to configure their BGP sessions. I'm guessing that I'm not the only one who's needed to bump up my max-prefix configs recently to avoid the dreaded log spam :)

Record Traffic

by Jeremy Lumby

Looks like MICE has hit a new high traffic level on MICE 920Gig (in+out) and climbing. Amazon moved one of their links over to 100G, and this is contributing. Jeremy Lumby Minnesota VoIP 9217 17th Ave S #216 Bloomington, MN 55425 M: 612-355-7740 D: 612-392-6814 F: 952-873-7425 jlumby(a)mnvoip.com

Global Net (AS395466) - Upcoming CARRIER Maintenance Windows 5/10 + 5/19

by Global Net NOC

MICEMN Members - Our carrier, Zayo Networks, has two upcoming maintenance windows which will affect our service to the MICE: Maintenance 5/10/20 Start: 5/10/20 0500 GMT End: 5/10/20 1000 GMT Down for up to 2 hours. Maintenance 5/19/20 Start: 5/19/20 0500 GMT End: 5/19/20 1000 GMT Down for the duration of the window. I apologize for the short notice on the first window. The carrier continues to schedule, cancel then re-schedule maintenance windows quicker than I can keep up. Thanks, Global Net NOC noc(a)theglobal.net Global Net Peering peering(a)theglobal.net
