We can and should unwind this setup now David. Our transit bandwidth situation has improved greatly since we set that all up and we don't need any help. I realize that the return traffic might be taking a different route, however one of the MICE members still needs to be transiting it to Charter. I can assure you the path from Akamai to Charter is not following that path, this is an asymmetrical path. We are helping USInternet provide cache fill for Akamai by announcing the prefix through commercial peering relationships we have. Interesting route to Akamai

I was a little interested in seeing which Akamai cluster would feed my Charter home internet connection if I decided to stream NCAA basketball. A quick packet capture revealed a very familiar IP address. You may want to check out major daytime sporting events this time of year for traffic indications. Today started the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Yes there was, but that came out Tuesday evening, at least that is when I got it on my phone. So, a big uptick at 11:00 today doesn't seem right to me for the iOS updated. I did a little looking, and didn't find anything obvious, to point to what it is. At first I though it might be our Akamai cluster went off-line or something, but that wasn't it. Thought I read somewhere that apple ios update was recently released. If true, that is likely the source of the traffic increase and would therefore not likely last too long. MICE Traffic increase

It looks like Akamai had a nice increase in traffic today starting around ~11AM. They are sending 6+ Gbps right now. :-) If it stays like this long-term, we might want to look into adding a second 10Gig link for Akamai and/or a 10Gig connection to the CNS switch. Integra doesn't peer multilaterally, I would recommend they turn up one of the smaller bilateral sessions and test directly with a peer. When I was testing earlier today, it appeared that the packet loss was happening inside Integra's network. I just spoke to Mark on the phone and he's characterizing it as packet loss that only happens with a particular source IP range. Otherwise I think we could probably just provide a pair of new servers if someone can recommend minimum specs and it can wait for another month or two. I'm assuming 1u, maybe a single quad core low power processor, 12GB mem, mirrored 100GB drives, dial ps, and ilo would work? I'm aware of it, its discussed in RFC 6304, it wouldn't hurt anything. However, as RFC 6761 becomes in more common use the need for this should reduce significantly. Ah, this probably hasn't been working in sometime, even with a bigger limit of 5000 on your entry, it would have failed some ways back. Although I don't remember the IPv6 RR's ever having more routes than the 35 or so prefixes the other members have announced. I've upped the route limiter for HE IPv6 multi-lateral peering with MICE, and we are now getting 6422 HE IPv6 routes into the tables.
