Savage Communications Upgrade

by Jay Hanke

Savage Communications is upgrading from 1x10G to 2x10G LAG. Please allocate Ethernet 5/33 on the Main switch. This will require a new LAG and then their existing port (4/33) will be migrated into the LAG. Welcome Aboard (again). -- Jay Hanke, President South Front Networks jayhanke(a)southfront.io Phone 612-204-0000

Re: BGP alerts about AS 53740 (OPTBIT)

by Andrew Hoyos

Two general schools of thought here: a.) carry the MICE prefix in your IGP (OSPF, ISIS, etc) - not BGP, if you need it to recurse next hops. While this is the ‘easy button’, it has the unintended impact of allowing things on your network to directly target MICE IPs which should be avoided - the only things we want talking to directly to MICE IP’s are other BGP speaking routers to establish BGP sessions. b.) set next-hop-self on your sessions on IXP facing router, so next hop is rewritten to the router itself towards the rest of your network. That way, you don’t need to carry the IX prefix in your IGP at all. > On Mar 30, 2020, at 5:56 PM, Abhi Devireddy <abhi(a)DEVIREDDY.COM> wrote: > > And you would be right... Charter is adding a second 10G link. The cross connect and optic have been installed but it has not been lagged into service yet. They should probably consider going straight up to a 100G port but I'm sure they're too far along in the process to not finish their 2x10G upgrade. by Colin Murphy

Hello Mice group, I'm getting user complaints from charter home users accessing GigaPoP participants. Does anyone know when Charter will be completing the conversion of a single 10 gig to a 2x10 gig port channel with their current link being maxed out? Spectrum is the name of the service, Charter is the name of the company. Just like Xfinity and Comcast. Re: Please Welcome Microsoft to MICE!

by Nicole Kangas

Hi everyone, We are now live in Minneapolis and ready to start peering on MICE. You can find info on how to request a session here: https://www.microsoft.com/peering<https://nam06.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpeering.a…> Our new peering portal is built on Azure so it does require having an Azure account and part of that setup requires a credit card. The credit card validation is only used for our fraud management system and will not be charged. We understand that the portal is a new experience for many, and we appreciate your feedback to peering(a)microsoft.com<mailto:peering@microsoft.com> so that we can continue to make improvements to the peering portal. The first step in requesting peering is to associate your ASN to your Azure account. This requires review and approval by our peering team so please wait to receive the mail that says your ASN has been approved before trying to request sessions. If you run into issues, please let me know and I will try to assist. Thanks and we look forward to peering with you!
