OT: Transit BW % Spend

by Jay Hanke

I'm working on an article for my substack comparing peering with transit costs. I'm looking to compare the ratio of "Internet" Spend vs total revenue. I'm going to compare public peering networks and non-public peering networks. -ASN -# of Internet subscribers -% of sales spent on Peering and Transit -- Jay Hanke, President South Front Networks jayhanke(a)southfront.io Phone 612-204-0000 https://southfront.io/path.html

Yes, I see those in our logs too. I have no idea about the cause. Any recent MICE network events?

by Frank Bulk

We saw few peers briefly bounce Monday at 1:40 pm (U.S. Central): AS 10310 (Yahoo): 206.108.255.58, 206.108.255.59, 2001:504:27::2846:0:1, 2001:504:27::2846:0:2 AS 15169 (Google): 206.108.255.167, 2001:504:27::3b41:0:2 And then on Tuesday at 11:44 am to about 10 minutes: AS 10310 (Yahoo): 206.108.255.58, 206.108.255.59, 2001:504:27::2846:0:1, 2001:504:27::2846:0:2 AS 15169 (Google): 206.108.255.167, 2001:504:27::3b41:0:2 Did anyone else see this? Do they share some transport back to Chicago or something? Frank

PeeringDB Carrier Object Update

by Jay Hanke

There was a pretty big upgrade to PeeringDB this morning that allows networks to load locations where they can sell transport services. This is what $DAYJOB record looks like: https://www.peeringdb.com/carrier/6 You submit a request that needs to be approved by the facility owner before it goes live. I'd recommend if you sell transport services into buildings with Internet Exchanges to add your records. It will make it a lot easier for networks to find transport into MICE (or other) IXes. -- Jay Hanke, President South Front Networks jayhanke(a)southfront.io Phone 612-204-0000 https://southfront.io/path.html
