Re: bgp with google
by Darin Steffl
Does anyone else find it disappointing that it took Google/Lumen a full 6
days to find and fix a rolled jumper?
I know if I had a 100G wave down that it would be a high priority to get it
restored in a timely manner, not 6 days later.

Update from Google:
For an update, the circuit is restored now.
Lumen found the fault on their side. Their technician went to the demarc and saw bidirectional light but the fibers were flipped, he was able to correct it.
Link is currently up and stable for an hour with live traffic. BGP sessions are also established. We'll now proceed on closing this case.
I saw my two sessions (IPv4 and IPv6) come up between 2:09 and 2:10 pm.

NANOG in MSP
by Jay Hanke
Looks to be up to 280 in person (429 total).
If your company is struggling to get some of the bilaterals setup over
MICE this would be a great time to track down your "peer" in person.
The CDN folks appear to be decently represented.

This went down at the same time as some planned Level3 fiber maint between ORD and MSP.
We had some things on that same path down overnight but now recovered.

IPv4 /24 expansion & renumbering
by Jonathan Stewart
Hello MICE fellows,
I'm not sure how much of 206.108.255.0/24 is assigned, but my assumption
is more than 50%. PeeringDB reports 120 peers with 136 "connections",
so that sounds like more than 50% of the /24 is assigned.
With recent growth in number of active routers at MICE, and the pain of
renumbering, it seems prudent to think about expanding to a /23.
I'm sure I'm not the first to think about this, but I haven't heard any
of the discussion others have likely had.
Unfortunately (predictably) it looks like 206.108.254.0/24 is in use, so
we don't have that option to expand by adding a /24 to our existing /24
to make a /23.
Have we taken steps, had thoughts, or requested additional space from
ARIN as a micro-allocation?
See: https://www.arin.net/reference/research/statistics/microallocations/
Cheers,
Jonathan
