However, there are two near-term problems, 501(c)(x) status (where probably x=6), and a hardware upgrade that we need to focus on first. An additional location is pointless if we don't survive our burst of success in the current location. I need to apologize, between travel in late October and early November, a bad cold in Mid-November, and the holiday I haven't made much progress on a upgrade plan. I hope to make some good progress over the next couple weeks. A member survey of expansion plans was brought up, I think that is a wonderful idea especially to provide some data to go with a upgrade plan. Don't know about the local footprint, but from what I have learned in the dump of private emails I've received from this thread sounds like it. There are a number of IXPs of the same size or with the same potential as the MICE that are able to negotiate free space, power and fiber. Just sayin. :-) Best, -M<

Especially for PNIs which is on the horizon. When an IXP grows, it make sense to peel off traffic vs. leave it all on the exchange. A variety of reasons including cost. In fact, if a fee were to be implemented for ports you'd probably see some of that happen with more frequency than you do now. Viawest is Shaw. I can't anyone there that can currently speak for their plans. When I asked before the merger, I was told that they would 'consider' it, but that networks were not their 'main business focus'. Zayos facility is full last I asked.
