Super Bowl Change Freeze

As you have probably heard, the Super Bowl is being held in Minneapolis on February 4. We discussed at UG 26 that it would be a good idea to institute a change freeze for a few days to a week before. If you need to upgrade your port capacity or make other changes at MICE, please plan to have those *complete* by January 26th. MICE Tax-Exempt Application Status

The IRS has notified MICE of its intention to _deny_ our Application for Recognition of Exemption. Recall that we filed under Section 501(c)(6), the classification which includes "business leagues, chambers of commerce, etc.". The IRS has suggested an alternative classification of 501(c)(12), which we understand is very likely to be approved. This is the classification which includes "mutual or cooperative telephone companies, or like organizations".
