I am pleased to announce that 702 Communications confirmed that July 11 works for them hosting UG 28: MICE User Group 28 July 11, 3:00pm 702 Main Ave, Moorhead, MN -- Richard

All, Please note that the address will probably change, but it WILL be at one of 702's facilities. Not likely at the 702 Main location, but probably one of their Fargo locations instead. We'll iron out that detail as it gets closer. Thank you! Sorry, I just assumed! I've updated the website back to "Location TBA". -- Richard

Reminder: UG 28 is July 11, 3:00pm, at one of the 702 Communications facilities in the Fargo/Moorhead area (specific location TBA). If you have agenda items for the upcoming UG 28, please send them to me. -- Richard

Reminder: UG 28 is on Wednesday of next week (July 11) at 3:00pm Remote Conferencing: 952-562-5400 passcode MICE (6423) Location Details: Alerus Bank 3137 32nd Ave S 2nd Floor Conference Room Fargo, ND 58103 Please park on the east or west side of the building and enter through the front doors. The MICE UG 29 meeting will be held Wednesday, October 10, 3:00 pm, at the 511 Building Cafeteria, 11th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN. The agenda and draft UG 28 minutes are attached. The remote conferencing will be the same as before: 952-562-5400 passcode MICE (6423). At this meeting, we will be holding an election for a board seat. The board consists of three seats with staggered terms, such that one seat comes up for re-election each year (at the fall meeting). This year, Reid's seat is up for election. Reid _is_ running for re-election. If anyone else is interested in running, please nominate yourself. Voting will be done in person. If you will not be attending in person, you must designate a proxy, in advance, in writing. The bylaws state that you send that to the Chief Manager (me, Richard Laager), and electronic means are acceptable. So a simple email is sufficient: rlaager@wiktel.com or, if you prefer, chiefmanager@micemn.net If you are having trouble finding a proxy who will be there in person, ask on the list or I can help you find someone. -- Richard

Nobody from US Internet will be attending this MICE meeting due to Wispapalooza; when is the latest that nominees will be accepted for Reid's seat? I hope to send a proxy vote but don't yet know who the candidates are. ________________________________ From: MICE Discuss <MICE-DISCUSS@LISTS.IPHOUSE.NET> on behalf of Richard Laager <rlaager@WIKTEL.COM> Sent: Monday, September 24, 2018 3:35 AM To: MICE-DISCUSS@LISTS.IPHOUSE.NET Subject: [MICE-DISCUSS] UG 29 Meeting & Election The MICE UG 29 meeting will be held Wednesday, October 10, 3:00 pm, at the 511 Building Cafeteria, 11th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN. A member pointed out that it is hard to instruct a proxy without knowing the final slate of candidates. Accordingly, we will close nominations at 5:00 PM Central on this Thursday, September 27. Following that, I will send another email confirming the final slate of candidates. Currently, Reid Fishler is running. On 09/24/2018 03:35 AM, Richard Laager wrote:

Hey, you still have to earn votes! Shaking hands, kissing babies, making campaign promises you can’t fulfill. Too bad we’ll miss out on the negative ads on WCCO…. The MICE UG 30 meeting will be held Wednesday, January 9, 3:00 pm, at the 511 Building Cafeteria, 11th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN. The agenda and draft UG 29 minutes are attached. This is the typical agenda. I'm behind on getting this together, so I haven't put out a separate call for agenda items. If anyone has agenda items, please let me know. The remote conferencing will be the same as before: 952-562-5400 passcode MICE (6423). -- Richard

The MICE UG 31 meeting will be held Wednesday, March 20, 3:00 pm, at the 511 Building Cafeteria, 11th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN. The agenda and draft UG 30 minutes are attached. The MICE UG 36 meeting will be held Wednesday, October 7, 3:00 pm, online at: https://meet.google.com/zgg-eeyu-dxz The agenda and draft UG 35 minutes are attached. If something goes wrong with the Google Meet, we can fall back to the phone conference: 952-562-5400 passcode MICE (6423). Note that the phone conference will /not/ connect you to the Google Meet meeting; this is purely a backup plan. *Election* At this meeting, we will be holding an election for a board seat. The board consists of three seats with staggered terms, such that one seat comes up for re-election each year (at the fall meeting). This year, Anthony's seat is up for election. As in the past, we will close nominations in advance of the meeting so people have a chance to instruct a proxy appropriately. *Nominations will be open for two weeks (so until the end of September 28).* If we end up with only one person running (like last time), then voting is a formality. But if we end up with a contested election, we will need to vote. I don't know of a good way to do secret balloting by Google Meet, nor am I particularly familiar with separate services to do the same. Suggestions are welcome if you don't like the following plan: My current plan is to roll call for (public) votes at the meeting to give people that option, but in practice, I'm guessing people will want to vote by email for convenience. The bylaws state that you send proxies to the Chief Manager (me, Richard Laager), and electronic means are acceptable. So a simple email is sufficient: rlaager@wiktel.com <mailto:rlaager@wiktel.com> or, if you prefer, chiefmanager@micemn.net <mailto:chiefmanager@micemn.net> works too. If you send me a /vote/ by email (e.g. "We vote for <X>."), I will treat it as an a proxy appointment, appointing me to vote on your behalf, but restricted to /only/ the election item and to /only/ vote for the candidate you expressed. So then at the meeting, I will say something like, "On behalf of members X, Y, and Z, I cast 1 vote for A and 2 votes for B." This will provide /some/ anonymization (obviously, /I/ will know how you voted). If you send me a proxy with different instructions (e.g. "We appoint <Y> to vote for us."), obviously that will be honored as written. -- Richard
