It looks like Akamai had a nice increase in traffic today starting around ~11AM. They are sending 6+ Gbps right now. :-) If it stays like this long-term, we might want to look into adding a second 10Gig link for Akamai and/or a 10Gig connection to the CNS switch. Looks like a fair amount is going to the GigaPop. Nice to see the extra traffic. I think you're right Steve, if it keeps up we'll want to look at some options. On Thu, Mar 21, 2013 at 12:13 PM, Steve Howard <showard@paulbunyan.net>wrote:

Thought I read somewhere that apple ios update was recently released. If true, that is likely the source of the traffic increase and would therefore not likely last too long. Either way it's nice to see Mice doing what it was intended for. -----Original Message----- From: Mike Bushard, Jr [mike.bushard@ARVIG.COM] Received: Thursday, 21 Mar 2013, 12:19pm To: MICE-DISCUSS@LISTS.IPHOUSE.NET [MICE-DISCUSS@LISTS.IPHOUSE.NET] Subject: Re: [MICE-DISCUSS] MICE Traffic increase Looks like a fair amount is going to the GigaPop. Yes there was, but that came out Tuesday evening, at least that is when I got it on my phone. So, a big uptick at 11:00 today doesn't seem right to me for the iOS updated. I did a little looking, and didn't find anything obvious, to point to what it is. At first I though it might be our Akamai cluster went off-line or something, but that wasn't it. You may want to check out major daytime sporting events this time of year for traffic indications. Today started the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Good possibility that Akamai would be a streaming provider for such a large viewership :)

Bingo, that's it, the time's on the humps today line up with the game start times. How did I forget about the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, heck the Gopher are in it this year. :) I'll have to look at it tomorrow night when the Gophers are on! :) On 3/21/13 17:00 , Koch, Andrew wrote:

Now that we've got more 10G ports on the "main" switch should the higher-volume connections migrate to that switch? Depends why participants bought the ports and who is peering. Openly.
