Zayo was in our DC Tuesday afternoon. They were working their way north from Omaha testing fibers and verifying connections in effort to finalize turn up of their new transport equipment. I would imagine the outage might be related to that project, but cannot say with certainty. Tim Fjeld City of Windom
The timing suggested a maintenance window, just that it wasn't communicated. I still have no confirmation of maintenance activities or otherwise at this point. I also find it hard to believe that it was an actual outage due to another observation of how fast it was restored. Exactly! If it was an actual unplanned fiber cut, it wouldn't have been restored yet! -----Original Message----- From: MICE Discuss <MICE-DISCUSS@LISTS.IPHOUSE.NET> On Behalf Of James Urwiller Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2019 10:30 AM To: MICE-DISCUSS@LISTS.IPHOUSE.NET Subject: Re: [MICE-DISCUSS] Zayo Maintenance?? Hi folks, It seems like the ‘mice-discuss’ list has quickly become the ‘zayo-outages’ list over the last few months. Just a suggestion, but perhaps it’s time to create a new mailing list for those that want to discuss all the latest Zayo fun? I think there are quite a few people on this list (perhaps a majority?), that likely find these Zayo outages emails/chatter irrelevant. Otherwise, I’m happy to go back to clicking delete :) Thanks! -- Andrew Hoyos hoyosa@gmail.com

Thanks, was thinking about chiming in on this too. Bummer that they seem to have a lot of issues but this doesn't seem relevant to the majority of MICE users. Cheers, -- Chris Wopat Network Engineer, WiscNet wopat@wiscnet.net 608-210-3965
Another thought / spot for this type of discussion could be Slack or IRC. I'm sure many folks are on many Slack workspaces already, perhaps one could be further used for MICE-ish chat. -- Chris Wopat Network Engineer, WiscNet wopat@wiscnet.net 608-210-3965
My apologies, I think I started this several months back. I just find the MICE community far more responsive in trying to find out what's going on, plus it helps aid in resolution if I report others with related outages. I am ok with keeping it to a dull roar 😉 again my apologies. I also apologize for jumping on the bandwagon. As a purchaser of services, I like to know the track record of my vendors/partners, but maybe there is a different venue for this kind of thing. I did get a confirmation of my trouble ticket being opened, but no update thereafter. And the update, four days later: After investigating, it looks like your service was impacted by a planned maintenance tracked under ticket TTN-0003551872. This maintenance consisted of Zayo relocating paths due to an Iowa DOT highway 75 reconstruction. It began on 10/9/2019 11:29 PM Central and concluded on 10/10/2019 4:22 AM Central. Unfortunately, the span your circuit rides on was missed on the impact list and therefore you were not notified.
