Multicast Traffic / 00:04:96:37:14:c3 -> 224.0.0.1
Could I convince the owner of an Extreme Networks device with license plate: 00:04:96:37:14:c3 to disable cause of the multicast traffic that seems to be directed at the exchange every 2 minutes? :) No. Time Source Destination Protocol Length Info 1 0.000000 69.147.218.100 224.0.0.1 IGMP 60 V2 Membership Query, general Frame 1: 60 bytes on wire (480 bits), 60 bytes captured (480 bits) Ethernet II, Src: ExtremeN_37:14:c3 (00:04:96:37:14:c3), Dst: IPv4mcast_00:00:01 (01:00:5e:00:00:01) Internet Protocol Version 4, Src: 69.147.218.100 (69.147.218.100), Dst: 224.0.0.1 (224.0.0.1) Internet Group Management Protocol -- Matthew Beckwell - Senior Network and Application Engineer Advanced Integrated Technologies Office: 952-829-5511 x204 matthewb@aitech.net<mailto:matthewb@aitech.net> ######################################################################## To unsubscribe from the MICE-DISCUSS list, click the following link: http://lists.iphouse.net/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=MICE-DISCUSS&A=1

In case it helps, here is the Extreme command to disable IGMP on a vlan: disable igmp vlan "<vlan name>" It's on by default when you create a new vlan. Is multicast a bad thing at the exchange? Is there some reason that we want to avoid it? On 10/19/2011 11:22 PM, Matthew Beckwell wrote:
