The original purpose of the term limits was to push out the founders to make sure the exchange isn't dominated by a couple of personalities or companies. We're likely beyond that now that all of the original gang of three are termed out making it somewhat harder to become a MICE king.
Let's be honest Jay, you just didn't want to be stuck on the board for ever and ever. :)
I would propose that we solve the general case rather than the immediate crises. I believe Reid was elected in May 2011 so he still has 6-7 months left. So there is plenty of time, we could vote at UG in Oct.
I propose we vote at the UG on extending the maximum consecutive terms to 2 (3 years each) then requiring at least 1 year break.
I'd be fine with simple 3 year terms, no term limit. Let people go as long as they are willing to go and we are willing to have them. -- ================================================ David Farmer Email: farmer@umn.edu Office of Information Technology University of Minnesota 2218 University Ave SE Phone: 1-612-626-0815 Minneapolis, MN 55414-3029 Cell: 1-612-812-9952 ================================================ ######################################################################## To unsubscribe from the MICE-DISCUSS list, click the following link: http://lists.iphouse.net/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=MICE-DISCUSS&A=1
