Juniper Switch move

I think we're about ready to move onto the new switching platform. We currently have a 1G link between the 4500 and the EX virtual chassis. I believe that we're ready to start moving copper ports on to the new switch. The link between the switches is on port 0 so we can move the copper ports preserving the existing port numbers. ie port 1 old = port 1 new. SDN is planning to move to a 10G port sometime in August. We can leave them in place on the main switch until they are ready for the 10G port. FWR, the connection type on the MICE end will change from SC to LC when this change occurs. I think that CNS was planning to upgrade the link to the main switch to 10G. Steve is that still the case? There are two copper Ethernet links coming out of the back of each of the route servers. I propose we move one of the route servers to the new switch and then move the second route server after all the participants have moved off. Which port is the mgmt port? Objections/ideas? Cut scheduling, I think early morning in the middle of the week would be the best. At 511 Anytime soon?

I would like to complete the Juniper Switch configuration, however, I will not be able to make it to 511 personally for the foreseeable near future. The IPv6 Deployment Monitoring Survey is now online, and we encourage all members of the ARIN community to participate. The survey is available at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GlobalIPv6survey2011. The purpose of the survey is to develop a better understanding of where the community is moving, and what can be done to ensure the Internet community is ready for the widespread adoption of IPv6. There has been little change to the survey since it was carried out in 2009 (only RIPE and APNIC) and 2010 (global), which will make comparison of progress possible. The results of previous surveys showed that community participation does contribute to a better understanding: more than 90% of last year's over 1600 respondents indicated that they were interested in participating again in 2011. We encourage all organizations to participate in this survey, which we hope will establish a comprehensive view of present IPv6 penetration and future plans for IPv6 deployment. The survey is composed of 23 questions and can be completed in about 15 minutes. Akamai Traffic on MICE

The 10G Akamai stack at the University is having an affect. The University turned up routing from the GigaPOP to MICE on its 10G link Tuesday around 8pm. The new paths were also announced to the Akamai route collector around that time too. Akamai started using these new paths around 1:30 in the afternoon on Wednesday. The University's 10G link peaked a little over 1G around 9:30pm last night. The bottleneck is the 1G link between the CNS 10G switch and the 4500. It was saturated from about 6:30pm to 9:30pm at about 950Mbps. Some of us are organizing to rectify the situation ASAP. There are some workarounds that could help in the very short-term, yet this morning, and we are looking to get the new Juniper switches with 10G up-links installed ASAP However, the earliest that can happen it this afternoon, as the switches are down in Mankato with Jay. There is a plan to get them up to 511 by mid-afternoon. Also I'll be watching the links and can modify our announcement to the Akamai route collector if necessary. Things are going to be fluid today. I'll just say that this is the kind of problem I like to see, if you are going to have to deal with any problem. Getting 2 less prefixes from 2607:FE10:FFFF::2 than from 2607:FE10:FFFF::1 for CDW/Brebee. *> 2607:FEE0::/32 2607:FE10:FFFF::26 0 3599 i *> 2607:FEE0:8000::/40 2607:FE10:FFFF::26 0 3599 ? Looks like the /40 is just a subset of the /32 prefix IPv4 prefix counts are identical on the route servers. There is no contact on the MICE Participants page for them. UMN IPv6 peering is up

I just brought up our IPv6 peering with the MICE route server. I about tripled the number of IPv6 routes in the MICE route server. We are also announcing a local 6to4 relay server we run into the MICE route server. You might want to double check where you are sending 6to4 traffic, check these two routes.
